Our clients at Stony Oaks came to us wanting a traditional ranch home with an open concept that feels like a lodge. The lodge feel was achieved with several design elements throughout the interior and exterior of the home. The first floor is 3,450 sq ft., has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and 1 half bath. Currently, the lower level is unfinished. This beautiful room has many cozy areas for family and friends to enjoy together.
Cathedral Ceiling with Exposed Cedar Trusses
Cedar trusses were used on the front exterior of the home as well as on the cathedral ceiling in the great room and kitchen. Throughout the home you will find stained hickory flooring with planks of different widths. The homeowners wanted the visitors to their home to walk through the front door and be able to see straight through the home to the outdoor living space. This was achieved with an open concept design with cathedral ceilings in the kitchen and great room; both rooms have walls of glass sliding doors with access to the covered porch.
Custom Home with Detailed Ceiling
Don’t forget to look up when you enter the home. The entry has a custom-designed ceiling with applied molding and a beautiful light fixture.
Custom Kitchen Cabinetry and Butlers Pantry
The kitchen’s focal point is the custom wood hood over the stove. Glass front custom wood cabinets flank the hood. The cabinetry doors are custom overlay in the colors black and white. The wall behind the stove has a backsplash made up of a brick herringbone tile and a pot-filler.
Black plumbing and light fixtures are used in the space. The dining area in the kitchen includes a custom niche for an heirloom dining buffet. A butler’s pantry in the hall off the kitchen provides a coffee bar, extra storage space for food, small appliances, and an extra refrigerator. In the same hall is a home office with custom built-ins and wood-framed glass pocket doors.
Great Room Fireplace with Custom Built-Ins
The great room’s focal point is the stone fireplace with a raised hearth and custom built-ins on both sides. When standing between the kitchen and the great room, all the focal points, including the large island in the kitchen, are lined up.
Consider Connecting the Primary Suite to the Laundry
The mudroom is off the garage and has a drop zone area. This area is connected to the laundry that is attached to the primary bedroom walk-in closet and bathroom. The primary bathroom has his and her vanities with granite countertops and custom cabinetry that matches the framed mirrors above with integrated sconces. The focal point of the bathroom is the free-standing tub and custom herringbone tile mosaic on the floor. There is a large walk-in shower with a zero threshold and his and her niches with accent tile. The attached primary bedroom has a tray ceiling and a feature wall treatment with applied molding.
Second Bedroom with En Suite Bathroom
The second bedroom is conveniently located off the hall from the great room. There is an accent wall with applied molding. The attached bathroom has a custom vanity with a matching framed mirror. The flooring in this room has a patterned tile that pairs well with the black framed shower.
Outdoor Living Space with Fireplace and Pitched Roof
Step out from the kitchen or great room sliding glass doors to the outdoor living space . The outdoor living area has a pitched roof that covers the porch. A centerpiece of this area is the stone wood burning fireplace.
