The Vandoren is a true statement of vision, planning, and craftsmanship. Sitting on 8 acres in Liberty Township, this 7,853 sq. ft. custom home features 5 bedrooms, 5 full baths, and 1 half bath. From the very beginning, the process was a collaboration between our clients, Wieland Builders, and our architect to turn raw land into a forever home.

Before construction could begin, the existing house and barn were torn down, trees cleared, and careful planning went into home placement, septic, and pool integration. Standing here today, it’s remarkable to see how every detail came together to reflect our client’s dream.

So many finishing touches to highlight, ceilings throughout the home average 10 feet, with 8-foot doors, detailed trim, wainscoting, and crown molding. Multiple staircases with hardwood treads and open landings tie each floor together with elegance.

Design Vision

The Vandoren’s design ties together warm wood tones throughout the home, from the kitchen island cabinetry and custom hood to the beams and mantle in the great room, and extending to the exterior cedar columns and gables. Using the same species of wood ensured a consistent stain and seamless look.

Hardwood flooring flows throughout the home and staircases, creating both durability and elegance.

Smart design is evident in every corner: a Lutron lighting system with undercabinet and toe-kick lighting, motion-sensor faucets, Toto smart toilets, U By Moen programmable shower system, heated bathroom floors, and even a family smart board that keeps schedules and meals organized.

Great Room

Soaring beams, crafted from 1×12 maple, carry the eye through the A-frame from the great room to the covered porch. The floor-to-ceiling fireplace is flanked by the ceiling beams, custom built-ins stained to match the kitchen island cabinetry and floating shelves with lighting. Folding glass doors by Pella open to 18′ making the covered porch accessible from the great room.

Kitchen and Walk-In Pantry

The kitchen is a showpiece with a two-tone palette: stained island cabinetry paired with classic white perimeter cabinets. Custom features include pullouts for spices and utensils, a mixer lift, and paneled appliances.

A spacious walk-in pantry mirrors the main kitchen cabinetry and adds a second sink, dishwasher, refrigerator, and prep space perfect for sourdough baking days.

Quartz countertops, marble tile backsplash, and a wood-accented hood connect the space to the great room’s beams and mantel.

Mudroom With Drop Zone

Just inside the garage entrance is the mudroom. This space features a herringbone tile floor, lockers with lots of storage for the entire family (even for dad!), a large seasonal closet, and a quartz drop zone with drawers for storage.

Foyer & Staircase

A stunning stained double door with Flemish glass offers both privacy and elegance as you enter the home. The foyer and hallway are accented with detailed applied wainscoting, adding a refined touch to the space. Overhead, two statement chandeliers guide your view toward the beautiful hardwood staircase, which flows seamlessly from the second floor to the lower level. The staircase’s clean lines perfectly complement the home’s transitional design. From the foyer, you’re greeted with an open view straight through the great room to the inviting covered rear porch and beyond.

Home Offices

This home features his-and-her offices designed with both style and functionality in mind. His office exudes sophistication, color drenched in a rich navy hue, Sherwin-Williams Gale Force. Integrated lighting highlights the floating shelves and custom cabinetry, offering ample storage and organization. Pocket doors provide privacy, while a step-up platform defines the desk area below the step is a lounge area that is a comfortable place to unwind.

Her office, which also serves as a craft room, is filled with natural light and designed for creativity. A stunning chandelier adds a touch of elegance to the bright, inviting space. The room includes a custom walk-in closet with abundant storage, keeping supplies neatly tucked away yet easily accessible.

Home Exterior and Front Porch: The exterior of this home showcases a thoughtful mix of materials that blend warmth, texture, and timeless style. The brick is painted white for a clean, classic look, while stone accents add depth and character around the front porch and other key areas. Cedar details are featured on the columns, gables, and the front doors are finished with a warm stain that ties the natural elements together beautifully. Metal roofing on the porch and dormer accents provides a modern contrast and durable finish. The front porch itself welcomes guests with a stained wood ceiling and a custom front door with Flemish glass, setting the tone for the inviting spaces found inside.

Covered Rear Porch: With an 18’ Pella folding door system, automatic screens, heaters, and a fireplace, this space extends the seasons for outdoor living.

Custom Grill Station/Outdoor Kitchen: Located on the rear patio, this is the centerpiece of outdoor entertaining. Guests can gather while the host grills, creating a natural hub for conversation and connection. The outdoor kitchen includes a built-in grill, countertop, refrigerator, and storage, all beautifully wrapped in stone to blend seamlessly with the home’s design.

Pool, Hot Tub, Pool Bath & Changing Room: The design plan included a conveniently located pool bath and changing area. Designed for convenience, featuring serene blue tones, quartz bench, washer/dryer, and a full shower.

 

Primary Suite

The primary suite was thoughtfully designed for life after kids, offering comfort, relaxation, and refined style. Located on the main level, this private retreat sits on one side of the home for added tranquility. The suite includes the bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closets, toilet room and laundry room.

Primary Bedroom

The spacious layout easily accommodates a king-size bed and includes a cozy reading nook, perfect for unwinding with a good book. A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace creates a stunning focal point, adding both warmth and character. Overhead, the double tray ceiling features a shallow coffered trim detail that enhances the room’s architectural elegance. For added convenience, an access door leads directly to the backyard, where a pool and hot tub awaits.

Primary Bathroom

Steps away from the primary bedroom is the primary bathroom with heated floors, his-and-her vanities (including a 10-foot vanity with makeup space), custom cabinetry with integrated power, a freestanding tub surrounded by marble accent tile, a separate toilet room with a Toto toilet and a spa-like curbless shower with a bench and multiple heads using a U By Moen programmable system.

• Piano Niche: The second floor hallway has a niche with a chandelier above, a perfect spot for the piano.

Entertainment Wall: When the retractable screen for TV and movie nights is not in use, a blue accent wall draws your attention.
